Dorothy Chaput
"musical . . . unhurried . . . gentle"

from The Chelmsford Independent, April 9, 2008
Dorothy E. (Chaput) Rogers, 70, died peacefully at her home on Friday, April 4, 2008, after a long fight with cancer.

She was born in Melrose on April 17, 1937, the daughter of the late Roland R. and Evelyn (Wihry) Chaput. Mrs. Rogers lived in Stoneham before moving to Billerica 47 years ago.

Mrs. Rogers had been a florist at Taylor Florist in Billerica and the former DeCrosta Florist before working as a tape librarian for 15 years at Harte Hanks. After retiring she started her own business called “Sewing with Patience,” making 18th century clothing. As her interest in history grew she joined the Billerica Historical Society and also volunteered in elementary schools playing 18th century music on the hammered dulcimer.

She is survived by two sons, Blaise Rogers of Pelham, N.H., and Brian Rogers and his wife, Sheila, of Brookline, N.H.; one daughter, Monica Clare Rogers of Billerica; four grandchildren; two brothers, Roland Chaput of Arlington, and Maurice Chaput of Chelmsford; her two godsons, Thomas and James Chaput; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral was held April 7, from the Sweeney Memorial Funeral Home in Billerica, followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Theresa Church. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill.
