Jean Nuzzo

Mrs. Jean M. (Nuzzo) Muise, age 75, of Wilmington, died peacefully at home on July 26, 2009, surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. Jean was born on June 6, 1934, in Everett, MA, she was the dear daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Griswold) Nuzzo, Jean grew up in Stoneham, MA, and was a graduate of Stoneham High School.

Following High School, Jean took a secretarial job with the John Hancock Insurance Company in Boston, where she worked for several years. She married John A. Muise on February 24, 1956 and they celebrated over 53 years of marriage. Jean and John moved to Wilmington in February of 1963, and Jean quickly became involved in the community. She worked for the Town of Wilmington in the cafeteria at the Wildwood and North Intermediate Schools as well as substituting at several other schools. She was also an active member of the Wilmington United Methodist Church, where she belonged to several women's groups including the Rebecca Sarah Circle, she was instrumental in baking cookies for the "Cookie Patrol" which was a group that welcomed new members and she also did volunteering whenever she could.

Prior to retiring, Jean was employed as a secretary for the American Mutual Insurance Company in Wakefield. In her spare time, Jean enjoyed knitting, crocheting, doing crafts, camping, and traveling, especially to Florida. She and her husband belonged to several bowling leagues over the years and they loved to square dance, they were members of the Wakefield Cosmopolitans Square Dancers.

Jean is survived by her beloved husband, John A. Muise, she was the devoted mother of John J. Muise & his wife, Alice, all of Wilmington; loving sister of Carol A. Sireen & her husband, Dennis of Tewksbury and the late Helen E. Nuzzo; cherished aunt of Cheryl Hoag & her husband, Brian and Daniel Clark & his wife, Yasmin all of Windham, NH; "very special" great-aunt of Joseph, Saskya, and Anthony, Jean is also survived by many dear friends, and her church family. Memorial donations in Jean's name may be made to the Wilmington United Methodist Church.
